You may noticed that most of the popular site go to maintenance mode once in a month or around two to three months. While the site in maintenance mode you could see a splash page or landing page with a message like “we are in maintenance mode…please visit within 3 hours”. It is best practice to put your site in maintenance mode while it is broken or you are changing the design or any security updates. At first get the plugin from above link and complete the installation. As soon as you install it successfully from settings menu go to the plugin settings page:
There are three tab in settings tab and first one is General. First of all select the activate radio button to activate the maintenance mode. Select bypass yes if you don’t want the search engines crawl your site during maintenance mode. Then select who can see bachend and front end while the site is still under maintenance. All other settings you may leave default.
Finally in Modules tab you can set a count down timer to show when exactly the site is going to run again. You can also add a subscriber form so that visitor willing to get notified can subscribe.
